At 7.15pm on 30th September, BBC Radio 4 will broadcast a special programme marking the exact anniversary of its birth, 40 years ago. In "4 at Forty", Sean Street will be joined by Dame Liz Forgan, former Managing director, BBC Network Radio. Lord Chris Smith, former Secretary of State for Culture, the Media and sport, Miranda Sawyer, Radio Critic of "The Observer" and writer and broadcaster Sarfraz Manzoor to debate the network's past, its role in current affairs and its future. The ninety minute discussion will be chaired by Eddie Mair.
